Analysis of Nursing Works in Ambulatory Units of Military Hospitals

Abstract

|
Purpose : This study focused on analyzing the nursing works in ambulatory units of Military Hospitals to improve the quality of nursing.
Method : Ten domains, with a total of 73 items were drawn from previous research, literature reviews and interviews with nursing officers. Content validity was tested by 6 experts. The subjects of this study were 56 nursing officers/nurses and 122 nurse-aides in 16 military hospitals.
Result : The most frequently performed activities were environment management for nursing officers/nurses and support for medical examination for nurse-aides respectively. The least frequently performed activities were health promotion and personnel management for nursing officers/nurses and health promotion for nurse-aides. In category of activity considered most important environment management was the most highly scored both for nursing officer/nurses and nursed-aides. The activities considered least important were Personnel management, material management, quality improvement and military special tasks for nursing officers/nurses and personnel management, health promotion and quality improvement for nurse-aids.
Conclusion : The appropriate assignment of personnel and tasking based on specialty and ability of ambulatory personnel are required for the improvement of ambulatory nursing.
